Convention Update from Youth Co-Chair          (04.18.2014)

Dear Convention Registrants,

With only months remaining until our highly anticipated 2014 KCCNA Convention in Chicago, I'd like to provide a brief update regarding the convention planning for youth activities.

Together with the KCYLNA board, led by President Abey Thachet, along with local Chicago youth representatives, our goal is to create an unforgettable convention experience for our young registrants.  Following two tremendously successful events in 2013, the KCYLNA Youth Convention in Houston and the KCYLNA Youth Summit in Detroit, our vision is to take this summer's convention to the next level.

Our greatest priority is the security of our young registrants and we believe that providing a myriad of entertaining events throughout the weekend will help ensure that.  Listed below is a sneak preview of some of the activities and programs that are being organized.
  • Opening Night Entertainment Event: Hip Hop Dance Competition Hosted By Two Of Chicago's Premier Dance Studios
  • Ice Breakers For All Age Groups
  • Independence Day Lunch Cruise For Registrants Ages 18-35
  • Basketball Tournament For All Age Groups
  • Networking Events For Registrants Ages 25-35
  • Seminars Designed Around Relevant Community Issues
  • The 2014 Mr. & Miss Kna Pageant (Guest Judge: Ms. Priyam Bhargava - 2013 Miss India USA)
  • The 2014 Battle Of The Cities Competition
  • Celebrity Motivational Speaker: Mr. Tim Grover (Personal Trainer and Confidant Of NBA Superstars, e.g. Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade & Others)
  • Youth Banquet & Closing Celebration Event
We ask our convention registrants between the ages of 15-35 to join our Facebook Group, "Official 2014 KCCNA Convention Group for Young Adults," for up to date convention information, event itinerary and other important alerts to help prepare for the convention.  For those who are not on Facebook, please check the convention website for updates.

The KCCNA and the 2014 Convention Committee are taking the youth convention experience very seriously.  The youth have been provided the largest convention budget to date, but more important, the absolute trust and support from our association.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me directly.

Regards,
Ronnie Joseph Puthenparambil

Procession committee news                                      ‏   04.15.2014

Picture
Chicago KCS is very excited to announce that the magnificent trio of Saji Erapuram, Della Nediyakalayil and Jomole Cheriyathil will lead a committee consisting of 25 members in charge of organizing and synchronizing the KCS Procession/Parade at the KCCNA Convention.

This committee will start the preliminary work soon with the aim of winning for the first time the First Prize Trophy for Procession which eluded us in the previous conventions. There is no doubt that this year's KCS Procession will be put together on a grand scale under the able supervision of this committee and it will be a delightful thing to watch for thousands of onlookers at the convention.

KCS Congratulates this team and wishes all the best!

Dear Convention registrants,

Procession committee wishes to remind each of the convention registrants that one of the main events of the convention is the procession and that is also a competition.  This is the only competition each and every one of the convention registrants can participate. For all other competitions, only selected people can participate.

So considering this as your first opportunity to show your love and affection to the convention, please adhere to the guidelines of the procession committee which will be given in the days to come. Even if you have to wear certain costumes, it will not be a problem as you will get time immediately after the procession to change back to your convenient attire.

So please make sure that everybody is co-operating with the procession committee  and kindly don't stand on the sides as this is an occasion to show our strength.  As all of you know that we, Chicago KCS is having almost 2000 people attending the convention and to  make this much people attend the procession in a disciplined manner is really a herculean task.

As a First step, the procession committee is in need of around 60 ladies who are ready to wear chatta, mundu and Kavani preferably in white color. As they will be having a key position in the procession, we need the name of the ladies urgently who are willing to wear this attire  just for the procession. If they have small children, we can accommodate the children and their husbands also positioned near them during the procession.  Also if you don't have chatta and mundu, you have enough time to get it arranged from India or if you are ready to wear and need help in arranging the same, please contact us. We already got the consent from 14 ladies, Still we need more as we are a big number of people attending from our side. If you are ready to wear chatta, mundu, kavani for the procession, please give their names to  Della Nediyakalayil, Jomol Cheriyathil, Elsamma Poozhikunnel,  Liza Panayaparambil or Denny Pullapallil. A response from you during this Holy week itself (as most of you will be meeting us in the church) is highly appreciated as it will help us to plan  the rest of the dress code.  Please take this request  seriously, show your enthusiasm and love to our KCS and our ultimate goal is the FIRST PRIZE for the procession.

Thanks for your cooperation in advance.

For KCS Procession Committee,
Jimmy Kaniyaly

Convention Registration crosses 1000 mark (03.20.2014)

Dear Knanaya Community members,

It is with immense pleasure that we the KCCNA Convention Registration Committee present to you the wonderful news that when Mr. Sanchu Chacko Puthenpurayil from New York completed his registration procedure 2014 KCCNA Convention at Chicago has just now crossed 1000 registration mark tonight 03/20/2014 at 22.16.57 ( E S T).

We would also like to bring to your attention that among these 1000 registrations, more than 925 are family registration which speaks about the amount of support expressed by Knanaya families from all across North America and Canada.

The National Registration was kicked off on October 26th, 2013 and the On-Line registration started on November 1st, 2013. Some of the milestones so far was that the first 100 registration was achieved within the first 3 days, we welcomed the new year of 2014 with 500 registration and we closed off the 1099.00 early bird deal on January 15th, 2014 at a record breaking 807 registration. That trend seems to continue on as we now are beyond 1000 mark.

As you all might be aware that we have recently introduced a new registration package oriented towards making it easier for unmarried youths (21 to 35) of our community and we are experiencing a very positive move in that direction too.

With only days remaining until March 31st, for this long registration journey to come to a close, we welcome with open arms everyone who has not yet registered. Let’s all look forward to spending the convention days together amongst 5000 or more Knanayites.

With Gratitude,

We can expect many more and therefore, please visit at convention.kccna.com as soon as soon possible to become part of the greatest extravaganza hitherto unseen in the history of KCCNA as the 2014 Convention is expected to break the record set for the earliest closing  date of registration !

The concerted effort of North American Knanaya community under the able leadership of Dr. Sheins Akasala was the principal force that transformed our misery and despair into hope and progress. We have to continue to maintain the same vigor and vitality to sustain this progress. We welcome you all to Chicago to become a part of the historic rally in front of Syro Malabar Headquarters on March 3, 2013.

As you already know, Chicago is in the process of bidding to host the 11th KCCNA convention. We have amassed various details of McCormick Place, our proposed convention center, and will be making a full-fledged presentation of these details for your consideration during the coming weekend. As many of you might already know, McCormick Place, which is along beautiful Lake Michigan, is North America's largest convention facility and attract more than three million people annually. McCormick Place was the location to President Obama's victory speech. It was also the location for 2012 NATO summit. Let's make ourselves proud to say that we, Knanaya Community, held a convention in a place where world class summits are common occurrences. PLEASE support our bid to host the 2014 KCCNA Convention.

We would like to invite you all for a SOCIAL GATHERING with fun and entertainment on March 1st (Friday) evening at Chicago community center before we prepare ourselves before selecting next KCCNA leadership, our next convention location and showcasing our strength and unity during a rally which is the beginning of a series of actions in store until we reach the desired outcome
